UK News Program Features Academy at Swift
River
and Britain's Youngest Boozer
The Academy at Swift River will be featured on one of Britain's most influential
news shows, "Tonight with Trevor McDonald," when host Sir Trevor McDonald, follows
the experiences of Sherrie Cooke, known to British audiences as one of "Britain's
Youngest Boozers".
Featured in a UK television show of the same name, Cooke was profiled as she
participated in a wilderness therapy program at SUWS of the Carolinas.
Now the 15-year old resident of Northampton, England is continuing her personally
transformative journey in Cummington, Massachusetts as she participates in
a year-long educational and therapeutic program at the Academy at Swift River.
McDonald's show will follow along with Sherrie as she takes part in life at Swift River, including working with the Academy's clinical team, attending classes and enjoying student and community life. In addition to updating viewers of "Britain's Youngest Boozers" on Sherrie's transformation, the show will remind UK parents that there are resources and there is hope for the more than 33% of British teens currently struggling with alcohol dependency.
Often compared to the CBS show "60 Minutes," "Tonight with Trevor McDonald" is one of the most-watched news shows in Britain. Airing twice weekly on ITV, the country's largest commercial channel, the show draws as many as 5 million viewers per episode.
