Safety Standards
Academy at Swift River considers your child’s safety to be of primary importance. As a member of the nation’s most comprehensive network of behavioral health programs for youth, Aspen Education Group, we proudly abide by the following safety guidelines:
- Current physical exam required upon admission, yearly physicals done thereafter
- 24 hour on-call MD available
- 24 hour RN available in addition to 24 hour advanced practice nurse available for psychotropic medication management
- Yearly TB testing, monthly monitoring of vital signs, height, weight
- Yearly flu vaccine provided
- All medications double checked by two RNs to prevent errors
- Health classes taught by Director of Nursing on adolescent specific health safety topics
- All staff receive First Aid basic information at new hire
- All staff required to take Infectious Control and blood borne pathogens training
- All staff radio equipped for instant communications
- Four major agreements upon enrollment: No sex, no drugs, no violence, no running away
- Missing student policy and protocol
- Search of students and luggage entering from an outside facility to prevent dangerous substances or objects
- Dorm searches when necessary
- Transportation policies, including mandatory drug testing
- Fire Drill and Evacuation Procedures
- Emergency Preparedness Manual: Power outage, flood plan, earthquake, bomb threat, strangers on campus, injury, illness, poisoning
- Water safety policy
- Disposal of waste in Chem and Photo Lab policy
- Drug screen agreement policy
- Automated external defibrillator (AED) on site
- Bullying Policy
