The ASR Stages of Change Model

  1. Pathways
  2. Contemplation
  3. Preparation
  4. Action
  5. Maintenance

Phases reflect the tasks completed and are a reflection of the general stage of change a student is in. Each Phase has responsibilities, increasing privileges and more extensive home visits. The Team, with the student, makes the determination of which Phase a student is in, when they move to the next phase, and if a phase should be returned to.

Team Retreats

Team Retreats take place throughout the period a student is at the Academy. They are scheduled as needed, upon the formation of a group of students ready for that particular Team Retreat. There is a Team Retreat appropriate to each of the Phases. There is a Team Retreat for students in the Contemplation Phase, Preparation Phase, Action Phase and Maintenance Phase, and Ending Phase. Team Retreat I (Pathways) provides tools for students to evaluate their lives, their problems and concerns, and to come to terms with the evaluation of problems made by their family and by ASR. The psychodramatic tool of the social atom is taught in the Contemplation Phase.
