For Wilderness Professionals

Ninety percent of Swift River students will successfully complete a therapeutic wilderness program before attending ASR. Maintaining those treatment gains and providing a seamless transition is our priority. We believe this is best accomplished through:

• Multiple points of contact with the wilderness therapist, initially through admissions for assessment and secondly through our Pathways Orientation Program to download treatment recommendations.
• A three-week orientation period, "Pathways," which is designed to help students process their wilderness experience, assess their strengths and weaknesses, and prepare for the transition to academic life.
• Ongoing contact with students' wilderness therapist whenever possible. The wilderness experience is often a high point and close to the hearts of our students. A call, letter or visit from their wilderness therapist can mean the world to them. We encourage and facilitate this contact in all ways possible. Please let us know if you are planning a visit to the area or would like help in coordinating one.
